Elements of design

Read more...Welcome.
I am David Emuche Nwaigwe and like many artists I'll say my career began in my youth. Although, my peers always complimented my work I never quite considered myself an artist. It wasn't until my junior year of art school that I feel my artistic eye and mind really blossomed. Among my fellow artists I felt that many of them conformed to particular social groups and adopted common beliefs. Which was reflected in their artwork such as usually using conventional approaches of the art world of their culture. Alex Grey says in his book The Mission of Art "...certain individuals evolve beyond the group mind; they excel and develop their own special vision of life. Development of the individual artist can both recapitulate and foretell the evolution of art. An original artistic vision is both acquired from the surrounding culture and attained through a depth of personal experience and introspection. When artists give form to revelation, their art can advance, deepen, and potentially transform the consciousness of their community. " I experienced a transformation in awareness do to lifestyle changes and expanding my perspective of the universe through science. As much as I love writers like Herman Hesse and Henry David Thoreau I now equally appreciate the thought experiments of Einstein and pondering a more spiritually oriented worldview.
My artwork progressed towards moments of life alluding to higher dimensions of subtle inner light and sacred language from ancient civilization. A quote from Beethoven I recall is "there is no loftier mission than to approach the Godhead nearer than other people, and to disseminate the divine rays among humanity." This is the purpose of art and music. Throughout the span of the human history man has been drawn to create. I want to further this trend of progression, and I think that the contemporary art industry has lost this aspect. Technology now has the ability to allow us reprint and distribute artwork worldwide. I'm not sure what the future holds but things are changing I believe, and I do know one thing for sure I want to make waves and not ride others. I work within the digital illustration and film medium, and technology is the future. It should not hinder art, but again transform what art is while still progressing the collective consciousness.
